Highlights from the 2011 Manufacturing Industry Economic Impact Report

The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and San Antonio Manufacturers Association released a study which showed that the manufacturing industry contributed $22.5 billion to the local economy! Here are some highlights from the report:

  • 51,024 people worked in the manufacturing industry, 6% of employed San Anotonians
  • The payroll for manufacturing was $2.4 billion in 2011, it has grown by nearly 50% in the past decade
  • The average salary of a manufacturing worker is $47,499, 11% above the average of $42,124 for all workers in San Antonio
  • The average salary for a manufacturing employee in Materials & Electricity is $52,686
