Great news for San Antonio!
San Antonio has been named the third-strongest major metropolitan area in Texas and eleventh overall in America, according to the On Numbers Economic Index.
A new feature of American City Business Journals, the parent company of the San Antonio Business Journal, the On Numbers Economic Index is computed from an 18-point formula that takes into account private-sector job growth, unemployment, personal earnings, housing-price appreciation, as well as construction and retail activity.
Oklahoma City ranked first on the list of 102 major metropolitan areas, followed by Austin; Omaha, Neb.; Pittsburgh; Denver; Houston; Columbus; Tulsa; Boston; and Little Rock, Ark. San Antonio just missed the Top 10, finishing at No. 11.
The Alamo City had a 5-year private-sector growth rate of 3.62 percent, an unemployment rate of 7.3 percent, earnings per worker of $777.60 and a 5-year house appreciation of 2.25 percent.
